  • The holiday season is so nice but also so stressful.  With buying everyone gifts to figuring out who is having the best holiday party this year, it is all stressful.  For me in particular, it is buying gifts and getting ready to end my first semester as a college student which means taking finals.

Buying gifts for my friends is hard.  It’s not that I don’t know what they like; it’s that I don’t know how much money to spend on them.  I am a cheap college student as are they.  I want to buy them something nice but I can’t spend a lot of money on them.  My funds are slowly depleting since I don’t have a job while in school. I think I will just stick to Target because their stuff is cheap but nice. All my friends love Target anyways so I am sure I will be able to find something for them.  I already have my parent’s and sister’s gift done so at least I don’t have to worry about that.

Taking finals are adding to my stress also.  Even though I haven’t taken them yet, they are still on my brain.  I just want them to be over with.  I have four finals all together.  I don’t think two of them will be hard.  The ones that I am worried about are my math and history final. But I am going to study really hard for them so I hope I do well.

Well this is my last post since the class that I had to do these for is over with.  I hope everyone has a great winter break and a great holiday.  Good luck to everyone in the future!

  • Wow. I can’t believe my first semester of college is almost over.  Just one more week.  It seems like I was just moving in for the school year to start now it is pretty much half way done.   I think I have adjusted to college life pretty well.  I have made new friends and put myself out there.  I am ok with living by myself.  I can’t say the same for my roommate. She is leaving at the end of this semester to transfer to IUPUI.  She goes home every weekend and sometimes during the week or she will go stay at her sisters apartment.  I hope she does better at IUPUI because she has given up here.

On a different note, I have four finals to take next week.  I hope I do well on them. The only ones I am worried about are my math and history finals. They scare me the most because my grade really depends on me doing well on them.  I know it sounds bad, but if I can pass by the bare minimum in those classes, I am ok with that.  I have a few days to study for my history final next week so I will be taking full advantage of that.

I just can’t wait to be done with the semester.  Even though we had almost a week for Thanksgiving break only a few weeks ago, I am so ready for another one.  I just really want to sleep in my bed.  That is probably the only thing that I have not adjusted to well to-the small beds.

  • I cannot believe someone died on Black Friday.  It truly amazes me that people have no shame walking over and on top of someone just to get a flat screen TV or a toy.  It is ridiculous.  I went shopping on Black Friday and if I saw someone on the ground being trampled by everyone else, I would help them up.  No thing is worth taking someone’s life.

The person died at a Wal-mart in New York.  Now I am all for a bargain, especially on Black Friday, but I will never step foot near a Wal-mart on Black Friday.  I went a few years ago, and I will never go back again.  The people that go there will literally kill you, no pun intended.  I would rather pay a few extra dollars than go to Wal-mart on Black Friday.  Hell, I hate going to Wal-mart on a normal day.

My favorite place to go on Black Friday is Target.  I just love Target in general.  Whenever I go shopping, I always make a stop there.  My mom and I went to Target on Black Friday and it wasn’t too bad.  There was a big group of people who tried to cheat and wait in their car until the doors opened and then they would go in with the front of the line.  That did not make me very happy but the security guard stopped them and made them wait until the line was gone.  Once we got in, it was fine until this lady completely cut us off.  When she cut us off, the back of her foot got ran over by our cart accidentally.  We did not mean to do it.  She turned around and gave us a dirty look like it was our fault, but had she not cut us off, it would not have happened.

Overall, I was happy with my purchases on Black Friday.  We got to Target at 5:45 in the morning and we got done with all of our stores and shopping at about 8:30.  I don’t think that that is too bad.

  • The fire on Wednesday really scared me and made me mad.  When I first heard the fire alarm, I thought something was going off in my room.  The alarm does not sound like a fire alarm at all.  It sounds like your phone is vibrating on a table really loud.  So I got up and turned on the light by the mirror and realized that was coming from the hall.  I went to the door and looked outside to see what was going on.  Two girls down the hall from me were yelling that there was a fire and we all need to get out.  I went back in my room and found the nearest sweatshirt and shoes.  Of course the nearest shoes I found were flip flops.  I grabbed my phone and my keys but I don’t remember grabbing my keys.  I went out in the hall and started going down the stairs.  I didn’t see or smell the smoke until the fourth floor, and I live on the eighth floor.  I saw the smoke on the second and first floors.  I went outside and it was FREEZING!  I had to wait outside for about 15 or 20 minutes before my friend and I walked over to the Robert Bell building to keep warm.  We were in there for probably 10 minutes before a fireman came over and told us we had to go to Worthen Arena.  So I walked over in my sweatshirt, shorts, and flip flops to Worthen.  Once again, with my luck the doors weren’t open so I had to wait outside for probably 10 minutes.  I could not bend my toes because they were so cold.  They finally let us in and we waited out in the lobby part.  Then they told us to go sit in the seats so they could take attendance.  My luck finally changed for the morning because a friend in my hall lives about 10 minutes from here so we went to her house.  Her mom got me some socks and some sweatpants to put on.  Her parent cooked us breakfast and about 5 minutes later we all passed out in her basement.  We got a call from our RA saying we could go back in at 8:30.  I was happy to finally be able to go back to my room but then I realized it would smell like smoke.  It still smells like smoke but not as bad.  I just really can’t wait to go home for break and not have to deal with anything that has to do with smoke and fires.

  • This has been a pretty rough week.  Or more like pretty rough last two days.  All week I have had trouble with my internet connection so that started it off bad.  Then the fire happened on Wednesday morning.  Wednesday afternoon I went to the library to work on a big paper due for history and I could not get a connection to the internet in on my laptop.  Of course there were no open computers.  So I walked over to Noyer and I finally got connection.  But with my luck I could not open a link to help me write my paper.  When I finally got it up, I was starting writing my paper.  I realized that trying to write a paper on five hours of sleep and hoping it makes sense is not a good idea.  I went back to my dorm and chilled for a while until my next class.  After I got back from my last class and dinner, my hall and the bathrooms were pretty much unbearable.  It was hard to breathe in.  My roommate went home because she couldn’t take it.  I had to stay in one of the girl’s room down the hall from me because the smell was worse in my room than hers.  We went to bed and at 3:30 AM some guys starting yelling through our window to wake us up.  I was so pissed.  Then my friend got up at 5:30 AM to go to swim practice.  Then her roommate came back to their room at 6:30 AM.  I finally went back to my room so I could sleep.   Luckily my TA only took attendance in my 9:00 AM class and let us go.  I got to go back to sleep which I was extremely happy about.  I really cannot wait until Thanksgiving break.
